Biography

My name is Nicholas Ormsby and I am a multi talented artist. At the age of two I was drawing and playing games on the computer. Over the years, through constant practice, these skills helped me to develop as an individual. By the age of twelve, my mother introduced me to acrylic and watercolor painting. While I was not very good at watercolor painting, I became very proficient, for my age, at acrylic painting. I continued to develop my painting skills practicing the style of Impressionism and at the ages of fourteen, fifteen and sixteen I took lessons from my grandmother during summer breaks. I focused on color theory, perspective, composition and lighting in in my paintings with my grandmother. When I was sixteen, one of my high school peers introduced me to three dimensional art in a program called Terragen .9 and matte painting in a program called Photoshop. In 2008, I developed an interest in photography which I incorporated into my style of digital media.

I am now doing full scale digital paintings rather than matte paintings and use a professional three dimensional program called Vue as opposed to Terragen .9.  Due to my progress, my art has been featured in a local art gallery. While I still enjoy traditional paining, my skill in computers has directed me towards the digital media of art.
